Learn more about the heart and history of Shad Boal.

Growing Up

Born and raised in Alta Loma, California, I was the youngest of three in what was then a small town. I learned the importance of God and country in an era when the phone was mounted on the kitchen wall and you were home before the streetlights came on. The network of community was strong, and my mom knew everyone. She led the way in church attendance and dinner table debates. My dad owned the original Boal Electric Inc. in Alta Loma, and he taught us the value of hard work and the importance of honesty.

All in the Family

As my kids grew up here in Grand Terrace, it has been important to keep them involved with the community. From Cub Scouts, soccer, basketball, volleyball, and softball to Grand Terrace Days, Clean Up GT, and many more community activities, we have instilled in them the value of community. For those who know me, they know me as a boots-on-the-ground person. My wife and I have been actively involved in Veterans Wall of Freedom, The Foundation, Senior Legacy, Light Up GT, Blue Mountain Festival, GT Christmas Cruise, and our personal dedication to putting on light shows for celebratory events like Memorial Day and Veterans Day, in honor of the brave men and women who have served our great country, as well as Christmas and Halloween.

Just Another Day's Work

Lead by example. If you do not volunteer, how can you ask others to? I am currently working with our city to bring back our CERT Team (Community Emergency Response Team). I believe in the importance of being prepared. Our CERT Team has existed for many years, but like many other groups, it has all but fallen silent since COVID. I wish to thank Judith Garcia with the City of Grand Terrace for her help in working together to bring back the CERT Team.

God and Country!

God and country. Yes, God is first. Am I perfect? No. I realize that running for City Council puts a lot of scrutiny on me. Some high-level politicians outside of Grand Terrace have advised me to edit my social media because my wife and I can be quite outspoken, and I learned from an early age to stand up for what is right. However, I believe in being authentic. Do you really want to vote for someone who feels the need to hide and filter who they are? If you choose not to vote for me, I respect your decision. All I ask is that you vote for the best person for the job; everything else is secondary.
